About Us

Our Story

Accord Vineyards was built on a simple idea—only do this if it’s the life and work we are truly passionate about.

We were both working in finance and communications, building careers that challenged us but never fully reflected our passions. We met near DC after moving through different places in our lives, and one of our first dates was the Mount Vernon Wine Festival, where we fell in love with Virginia wine—and with each other.

After Whiticar returned from a year in Afghanistan, we made DC our home and spent over a decade building our lives there. Weekdays were full of work and long commutes, while weekends became our escape—visiting wineries, orchards, and farms across Northern Virginia. Over time, those weekends became something more: a glimpse of where we wanted to be.

After Amanda pursued pastry training at Le Cordon Bleu in London and Paris, we began looking for what came next. That search eventually led us to what used to be named Fox Meadow. We knew immediately it was the place we wanted to build our life and our work. Not long after, we were able to acquire the adjacent land and make Blue Mountain our home.

Accord Vineyards is, at its heart, a place to slow down. A place to breathe a little deeper, appreciate the moment in front of you, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being present. It is a space shaped by the rhythm of the vineyard and the quiet beauty of Blue Mountain, where wine is not rushed, but experienced. Here, we embrace a sense of joie de vivre—a joy in living well, in good company, and in moments worth lingering over.

Owning and operating a vineyard is everything people imagine—and more. It is farming, winemaking, and hospitality all at once. It requires patience, resilience, and attention in every season. There are days that feel overwhelming, and then there are moments when we step back, look out over the mountains, share a glass of our wine, and remember exactly why we chose this life.

Accord Vineyards is still family owned and operated. Whiticar leads the vineyard and cellar. Amanda oversees the tasting room and business operations.

Most days, you will find one or both of us in the tasting room, supported by a dedicated wine family who help bring everything to life.

We look forward to welcoming you to the vineyard—and sharing it with you, accordingly.

Vineyard & Cellar Operations

Describe the team member here. Write a brief description of their role and responsibilities, or a short bio with a background summary.

Favorite wine:

Le Renard Rouge

After over 20 years in the USAF retiring as a Major working as a Finance Officer, Whiticar went from a uniform and a cubicle to overalls in the vineyard. After growing up on a tobacco farm in Kentucky, he got back on a tractor with ease. Armed with training in enology and viticulture from UC Davis, he enjoys caring for the vines and working with our winemaker in the cellar. When he’s not on the tractor on the farm, he’s on the tractor at home, going for a run or cooking for our family.

Favorite wine:

Petit Manseng

Amanda brings her background as a communications executive and Le Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef to the tasting room and leads everything from events and food and wine pairings to team management and finances. She traded her Vespa in the city for a John Deere Gator and enjoys being back in the country after growing up on her family's farm and maple sugar grove in Michigan. When she’s not in the kitchen or catching up with guests in the tasting room, she’s baking, reading, walking the vineyard with the pups, doing yoga or dreaming of future travels.

Favorite wine:

The grape juice before fermentation

Audrey is a student in high school and on the farm, constantly learning as her parents involve her in projects between the vineyard, cellar, and tasting room. When she’s not at school or crafting salami roses in the kitchen, she is sipping tea while she reads a good book, working out, hanging out with friends or trying a new baking project.

Penny and Copper

Security Team

Describe the team member here. Write a brief description of their role and responsibilities, or a short bio with a background summary.

Favorite wine:

Blue Mountain water, 2026 vintage, preferably from a garden hose

Our vineyard dogs, Penny, a Sheepadoodle and Copper, a mini Bernadoodle, help keep the vineyard secure by chasing all the squirrels and groundhogs away. They love running without abandon down the rows of vines and seeing if any guests left behind treats in the picnic area. We hope to have them in the tasting room more, but they need additional training so they don’t scare any guests away with their excitement.
